Join us at the 9th Annual
Edmonton Pet Expo! Bring your friends, bring your family,
but please, for the safety of your own animals, as well as those
at the Show, leave
your own critters at home.
This will be an exciting
event, full of critters of all shapes and sizes. With a petting
zoo, cats, dogs, reptiles, and
more,
this will be a show for all ages! This will be an opportunity to
interact with animal lovers, get information, and shop for you
and your pet! Learn the behaviours and general characteristics
of different breeds before choosing your pet or discover the new
trends and interesting facts about pet ownership!
The Edmonton Pet Expo
has some amazing attractions for the whole family. Our hope is
that attendees will walk away as more knowledgeable and responsible
pet owners, and with a renewed appreciation for the role pets play
in the lives of individuals and within the community.
The Edmonton
Pet Expo will again feature a Doggie Demo Area, this year bringing
together a great line-up you won’t want to
miss!
K9
Korruption will feature demonstrations that use a variety
of skill levels and dog sizes to enjoy a good time while promoting
the excellent sport of agility. This group evolved from dedicated
and loving dog guardians with similar principles and beliefs that
wished to encourage relationships between each other and their
dogs, maintaining safe and healthy environments, educating the
public to promote canine physical and mental conditioning, positive
training, and stimulating game play.
Alberta
Redneck Furry Fliers (ARFF) will be bringing the excitement of disc to
life, showing off disc sport skills in freestyle and
toss & fetch. This is a newer disc dog club aimed at promoting
the sport of disc, in the disciplines of freestyle and toss & fetch.
It hosts seminars throughout the year and at least one major trial
during the summer. Last Fall it hosted the first Skyhoundz World
Qualifier in Edmonton, with finalists traveling to Tennessee to
compete against players from all over the world.
Bark
N’ Mad Flyball Team is an active team that regularly
travels the province, and has gone as far as Alaska, to attend
tournaments. Since the sport is non-aggressive, it draws a variety
of ages, breeds, sizes, and shapes that can all participate and
have a good time. Come and check out the high energy of Flyball
as the team’s members show off their skills.
Kristine Rooney,
a Certified Pet Dog Trainer and Alberta SPCA Board of Directors
member, will bring her educating and counseling
experience to several topics on behalf of Dogspaw. Presentations
will cover such topics as the Benefits of Spaying and Neutering
Your Pet, How to Meet a Dog Correctly, Achieving Balance in Your
Dog’s Day, and Why Take a Class (even if you have had dogs
before).
Grand
Paws is a home away from home for
many dogs that come to enjoy a safe, nurturing, active environment,
with one of the largest
indoor-outdoor play areas around. This daycare also provides grooming
and regular classes on agility, obedience, and flyball. Grand Paws
will be presenting Spectrum Speed Dogsports, a
group known for their fun and fast agility demonstrations. From
the newbie’s
to the elite, these dogs have personality, and it shows as they
blaze around the course to the cheers of the crowd. The
Equine Demo Area will also be offering…
Dream It. Believe It. Do It. These are words that drive Susan
Fyfe, equestrienne, motivational speaker, and one of the founders
of the Rescue 100 Foundation. Susan will be sharing the stories
of Rescue 100, a registered society that began out of an immediate
tragedy and now steps forward, ready to continue their success
in healing and rehabilitating rescued horses before adopting them
out to forever homes.
